Brooklyn Botanic Garden: Explore An Urban Oasis

In the midst of the urban epicenter of Brooklyn spans a 52-acre oasis filled with gardens, plants, and fauna beckoning visitors admiration. Head to these lush grounds in Prospect Park to tour and explore nature's inspirations, which include a number of specialty gardens, like the Rose and Japanese gardens. The Brooklyn Botanical Garden houses the impressive Steinhardt Conservatory containing the C. V. Starr Bonsai Museum, three climate-themed plant pavilions, a white cast-iron and glass aquatic plant house, and an art gallery. It offers seasonal programs, workshops and various events open to the public, through its commitment to education and community outreach. Hop on the 2/3 train to the Eastern Parkway subway station and take a stroll through this wonderland.

    There are three separate gardens to tour. The Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden features Japanese landscaping in a zen atmosphere. The rose garden is filled with  one thousand blossoming rose species, and the native Flora Garden features plants in the NYC area that have existed for over 100 years. Some plants in bloom now are Holly, Japanese Forest Grass, Nigella and Hawthorne.

    For those driving to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, there is an attended parking lot open from 6 am on weekdays and 7 am on weekends. There is no overnight parking! Prices for up to 1 hour of parking is $5, up to 2 hours is $8, up to 4 hours is $12, maximum to closing is $18, and lost ticket is $28.
